YSS Receives a Three-Year National Accreditation from CARF
CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) International recently announced that Youth & Shelter Services, Inc. (YSS) has been nationally accredited by CARF for a period of three years. A team of six national reviewers conducted on-site reviews March 26 through 28. The decision represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows that YSS substantially conforms to CARF’s 1,600 quality of service standards.
“This demonstrates that YSS services are of the highest quality, measurable and accountable,” Brian Eslinger, Chair of the YSS Board of Directors said. “YSS can say that it meets international standards for quality outcomes and is committed to pursuing excellence. Our staff also earned an exemplary designation for its CEO’s leadership and its Community, Youth and Family Development services.”
YSS quality assurance teams meet regularly to review and update policy and procedure manuals to continually learn how to consistently provide the highest quality services in each of YSS’ specialized program areas. YSS was accredited in the following programs: Case Management/Services Coordination (Children and Adolescents), Child/Youth Day Care (Children and Adolescents), Community Housing and Shelters (Children and Adolescents), Residential Treatment (Children and Adolescents). YSS was also accredited in the following areas of Outpatient Treatment: Alcohol and Other Drugs/ Addictions (Adults), Alcohol and Other Drugs/Addictions (Children and Adolescents), Mental Health (Adults), Mental Health (Children and Adolescents).
“This achievement is an indication of your organization’s dedication and commitment to improving the quality of the lives of the persons served. Services personnel and documentation clearly indicate an established pattern of practiced excellence,” CARF stated in its accreditation report. In the report, CARF explained YSS demonstrates exemplary conformance to CARF standards in the areas of elected leaders, who have a significant influence on the children of Iowa and a comprehensive leadership succession plan. Exemplary conformance was also demonstrated in that YSS has diverse, well-developed prevention and diversion programming that is strength-based and focuses on social skill-building and leadership skills, while providing different and unique opportunities for community involvement and enrichment.
“Your organization should take pride in achieving this high level of accreditation,” CARF said in its report. Receiving a three-year accreditation demonstrates that YSS has gone through a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated that its programs and services are of the highest quality. The accreditation will extend through April 30, 2015 and is the second three-year accreditation given to YSS from CARF.
