Supporting Diversity
YSS Diversity Task Force Mission Statement
We come together to support each other in our desire to welcome our differences at YSS and to build and maintain an open community that will not tolerate bigotry, homophobia, sexism, racism or prejudice. We believe that for YSS to become a more welcoming agency, we must:
- Ensure that YSS is an inclusive agency. Inclusion promotes equity and cultural sensitivity.
- Promote continuing education and open dialogue to foster understanding and awareness of the stereotypes and biases that create barriers.
- Work to eliminate favoritism based upon group affiliation. A diverse workplace creates opportunities for dialogue and networking.
- Create an inviting atmosphere free of bullying, harassment, mobbing and discrimination.
- Design and implement a procedure to resolve conflict in our agency.
- Maintain a Diversity Resource Library and Web page.
- Promote character development within all levels of YSS.
- Reaffirm, adhere to, and evaluate our work in meeting our mission responsibilities.
YSS both serves and is made up of a rich mixture of diverse people. This diversity is a major source of our strength as an organization. Each individual has the unique ability and responsibility to contribute, and each has the opportunity to participate, grow, and develop.
