|Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention|
Adolescence is a time when young people develop the knowledge, attitudes and skills they need to become sexually healthy. As they grow and mature, young people need access to medically accurate information about their sexuality in order to make sexually responsible decisions. Positive communication between parents, children and educators is vital in allowing young people an opportunity to establish individual values focused on science-based curricula.
Since 2002, YSS has been a part of Boone County Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention (BCAPP), which has provided leadership and education in prevention, parenting and sexual health. In 2009, BCAPP expanded their services to include Story County, thus forming a united coalition: "Teaming Together For Teens."
