2008 Governor's Cup Photos

 

Centipede Division

  1. Each centipede must consist of at least 5 runners.

  2. The centipede body must be 15 feet long.

  3. A centipede may be made of any material which is light, flexible and well-ventilated. Allow at least four feet between individual leg segments.

  4. Head boppers on the head of each segment are required. Six head boppers (i.e., one extra) will be provided at registration.

  5. The final segment of each centipede may wear a stinger.

  6. Each segment must be filled with a registered centipede athlete in order to be eligible for official awards.

  7. During the entire competition, all required body segments must be present in the centipede body.

  8. Decals or other advertisements for high performance may be displayed on any centipede body.

  9. All centipedes must start from the rear of pack at the designated Centipede start line.

  10. The first person in each centipede to cross the finish line determines the finishing time for all.

  11. Individuals must write their own name and their centipede team name on their runner number tear-off tag.

  12. There will be one division for Centipedes in the 2008 race.

The Iowa Homeless Youth Centers works to eliminate homelessness among children, youth, and young mothers in Polk County. We believe, with support and assistance, homeless individuals and families can live independently and attain self-sufficiency.
