Are you interested in pursuing an internship with IHYC? An internship helping youth can advance your knowledge of human services, psychology, family studies, social work and criminal justice, public relations or related fields.

Who can intern?
o A junior- or senior-level college student
o A person in the above or related fields
The length of commitment is one semester in length, which include intern orientation and training.

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES

Smoking Cessation Intern
You will be able to assist our Smoking Cessation Advocate to help homeless youth learn about smoking cessation, the health risks of smoking and help the youth keep a weekly log. You will also educate youth about smoking reduction techniques and methods of quitting.

Educational/ Employment Intern
You will have the chance to work with youth from our transitional living centers and outreach centers, assisting them to gain the experience of completing high school or obtaining a GED, furthering their education, and may assist with tutoring. You may also be asked to assist the youth in job searching, interviewing and job readiness skills.

Pregnancy Prevention Intern
You will be able to work with youth on the prevention of pregnancy, assisting women and men while they set goals of prevention, educate them about safe relationships and sexuality. Interns will meet on a regular basis to reassess their goals.

Food Pantry Interns
You will be able to work in our Food Pantry, developing the skills needed to run a food pantry while working with homeless individual and families who access the food pantry and provide resources to individuals as needed.

Public Relations Intern
You will be able to work with our staff to publicize events and programs using print, graphic design and Web site skills Click here for a description of the internship.
