The generosity of Variety - the Children's Charity will support Variety AMP Camp, YSS Kids Club and Francis Lauer Youth Services, a YSS organization.
YSS has received gifts totaling $40,000 from Variety – the Children’s Charity, and a Variety Van, at its annual grant reception hosted in late September.
Variety – the Children’s Charity presented grants totaling $2.2 million to 58 central Iowa children’s charities at the event.
Funds will be used to support the annual Variety AMP Camp, a weeklong summer camp for youth participants or recent alumni of Iowa’s foster care system. The camp is offered through Achieving Maximum Potential (AMP), a youth-driven, statewide group that seeks to unleash the full potential for personal growth among foster and adoptive children in Iowa.
Variety – the Children’s Charity gifts will also support transportation expenses for YSS Kids Club summer field trips. YSS Kids Club provides safe, affordable supervision and programming for children in Ballard, Gilbert, Ogden, Boone and Roland-Story.
Francis Lauer Youth Services, a YSS organization, received a Variety Van. Francis Lauer is located in Mason City, Iowa, and provides individual, family and group counseling, emergency services/shelter and transitional services for youth.
