YSS direct care services address the presenting problems of a wide range of children and youth who have experienced physical and sexual abuse, neglect, trouble with the law, emotional and mental problems, experience running away from home, homelessness, pregnant and parenting women, youth aging out of the foster care system, chemically-addicted youth, and families experiencing conflict.
For more than three decades, YSS has served more than 46,000 youth in residential programs, counseling, and family foster care. Tens of thousands of parents and siblings of these youth have also received counseling, support, intervention, and guidance through the services we provide. In addition, more than 160,000 children, students, and parents have benefited from YSS’ comprehensive prevention and youth development programs.
YSS works to promote unity, self-empowerment, and self-sufficiency for all within the communities. We serve without regard to race, gender, age, or sexual orientation.
YSS has a strong belief in the value of collaboration with other child welfare agencies. We have established several networks of youth serving agencies and administer and funds nearly 100 subcontracts with other non-profit organizations.
