Iowa Homeless Youth Centers

We believe within every youth is a successful adult.

Iowa Homeless Youth Centers (IHYC) works to eliminate homelessness among children, youth and young mothers in Polk County. We believe, with support and assistance, homeless individuals and families can live independently and attain self-sufficiency.

IHYC programs and staff focus on helping participants set and achieve goals in five key areas:

  • Education
  • Employment
  • Safe housing
  • Life skills
  • Positive community engagement

Subscribe to our Thrive in Iowa newsletter to keep up to date with IHYC happenings.

Join us for the 2017 IHYC Achievement Tea on Thursday, August 3rd!

Celebrating the success of our youth, volunteers and community.

Hear the stories of five youth from IHYC and how they are breaking the cycle of poverty. We will also honor one volunteer and one community partner who make our work possible.

Light hors d'oeuvres, desserts, tea, and coffee will be served for our take on a traditional afternoon tea.

Applications now being accepted for PSERP

IHYC is currently accepting applications for the Post-Secondary Education Retention Program (PSERP).  PSERP is an initiative that assists young adults (ages 18-25) in successfully completing their post-secondary education.  This includes a two year associates degree or certificate of completion from a trade program.  Find out how you can get involved here:
